The Obed Wild and Scenic River
"...climbers travel from all over the country
and even other
parts of the world to climb the unique and challenging routes."
The Obed Wild and Scenic River is located along the Cumberland Plateau one
hour west of Knoxville on the outskirts of the town of Wartburg. The recreation
area
housing the Obed is managed by the National Park Service and offers visitors
a chance to experience a variety of outdoor activities such as rock climbing,
boating, fishing and hiking.
Although many people visit the Obed to hike and boat, the majority of steady
traffic comes in the form of rock climbers.
