Haw Ridge Park
Haw Ridge Park is just a short drive off interstate 62 and right off the old Edgemore Road exit. Haw Ridge offers a mix of trails and former Jeep roads for the hiker, trail runner or experienced mountain biker. The 780 park was the destination for Jeeps and motorcycles until it was closed to motorized vehicles in the winter of 1987. Haw Ridge today is a mountain biker’s playground offering roller coaster- like trails for the outdoor enthusiast.

The only entrance fee is the climb over Haw Ridge that greets you at every entry point. The west entrance is the most popular but rocky for the first half mile. Once inside the park you can test your thighs and steep technical climbs or test your nerves in descents and gradients in excess of 70%. Some trail sections have rocks, roots and ruts. There are some scenic and relaxing 7.5 mile single track trails along the lake at Haw Ridge and if you would rather push than pedal you can take the family out for a long hike or get a group of friends together and head up some of the very technical trails. The park is hard to ride and should be avoided after any rainstorm
